hosting made simple

I’ve learned to love hosting others in my home, but it isn’t something that has always come naturally to me. My extended family has always been great at this, but the idea of cleaning, prepping, and then the actual hosting of guests would make me want to shut down and crawl in bed! Sounds dramatic, but it was the truth. Thankfully the Lord has been working on my heart and I’m learning to love having friends and family over. With that said, you should know I’m a low-key host and prefer laid back style, pretty drinks, simple eats, and maybe a pretty label or two. I typically host every party the same, whether a birthday party for my family or a gathering of women. Real flowers are my go to for decor and maybe a few balloons for bigger celebrations. Here are a few of my personal faves when hosting.

1. 9 oz., 12 oz. & 16 oz. to-go cups are perfect for sending drinks home with your guest. This is probably one of the simplest things to offer guests that is always received with excitement. Who knew a to-go drink would be such a hit?! 2. Jars w/ pouring spout are perfect for flavored syrups 3. Vase collection that can be easily filled with fresh flowers or greenery from around your landscaping or the flower shop 4. Short straws for 9 oz. to-go cups 5. Beeswax candles to add ambiance to any gathering 6. Mason jars make the perfect drinking glasses, but remember if you use the 8 oz. jars you’ll spend a lot of time refilling and if you go above a pint size jar, they might be too large for some guests to hang on to. Another tip- these are terrible for hot beverages so stick with a handled mug or to-go cups. 7. Plastic plates/bowls make clean up simple while also being beautiful and sturdy. Nothing worse than a fully loaded paper plate folding on someone as they head back to the table. 8. To-go hot beverage cups are a staple in our home and perfect for sending guests on the road with a hot tea or latte, especially during the cooler months 9. Plastic beverage pitcher. We have and use this one and it’s light weight and beautiful and great for smaller gatherings. When hosting larger groups, we prefer water bottles. Even though they aren’t as aesthetically pleasing, they are easier and we like simple! Be sure to set out a few black sharpies if using water bottles so guests can mark their bottles. We gather up any unfinished bottles and use to water the plants, so they never go to waste.
